gals Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Hi, I own a 1.9tdi auto on a 52 plate for the last 2 years. Right know I am experiencing a loss of power while driving. and at pull off. I have had the MAF changed and the problem is still there. Strangely when I take it to the petrol station and put fuel in the tank I will be able to drive it with no problems for a little while, befor the problems start again. Took it to fords they could not find what the problem is. Some one suggested the auto box but I am not convinced as I have no trouble getting gears. PLEASE HELP. Quote
montymousey Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 are you getting a vacuum in your fuel tank? If so you will hear a sucking noise when you release your cap. Quote
gals Posted November 12, 2007 Author Report Posted November 12, 2007 Hi, tried that it seems ok. Any other ideas? Quote
insider Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Some one suggested the auto box but I am not convinced as I have no trouble getting gears. PLEASE HELP.Could be that the auto transmission fluid needs to be changed. This wouldn't affect gear changes but could cause loss of traction in the torque converter. Quote
gals Posted November 15, 2007 Author Report Posted November 15, 2007 Thanks, I will look into that. But is that not done as standard on a full service? Quote
Uttoxeter777 Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Hello, I have an 06 plate TDi Auto, this intermittently experiences a loss of power whilst driving. If you stop the vehicle, wait several seconds and restart the problem has gone. Seemed to happen when I first had the car, this time last year, then seemed to go away. Now it has done it several times recently. Possibly related to the colder weather? No engine lights come on to indicate a problem, the car is still under FordDirect warranty, they have 'checked' it twice but can find no fault, as it only manifests itself intermittently I can understand why this might be difficult. To the original poster, is your problem always there or intermittent? Regards, Richard Quote

The dealer ran a diagnostic which showed of all things a faulty multiplug in the front passenger door. Once they changed that the problem went away. I was absolutely amazed. Quote
